My Travel to the United States

Wong lee was his name, but it was changed to Alex Rodriguez. He was born in China. China was dealing with the crisis of famine and the war taking the lives of innocent people. His parents soon found out that his country in china was not a safe environment to live in. They decided to take their chances at the one country with the freedom they need to live a good life, the United States. It was at that time that Wong Lee’s life was changing as a young Chinese kid living in a war-zone  to becoming a citizen in the United States.

Wong’s travels were brutal because heading the path to freedom, all he could take with him was a shirt with the Chinese characters saying ’courage’ to represent that a man boy from a little village in china can make a difference in his life. Boy when he was young, he was scarred that they and no  one can do anything to stop that crime. Arriving to Angel Island changed his identity. He was stripped down by inspectors because they found put that hes parents did weren’t aroung and after died at the island by some disease. He was interegated as soon as he got there. He was evaluated by a number of people that wanted to know hiss whole life before he could become a citizen of the United States. The people interegating him were two immigrant inspectors, a stenographer and a translator if needed. As this process led on and he was still in Angel Island waitind to be approved, he waited until he was an adult to become a citizen. But becoming a citizen there was hard life at that time due to the war breaking out there and the Chinese coming in an enormous quantity to have better lives. A great amount of Chinese immigrants were overflowing Angel Island as soon Wong came out of there, that there was someone in there that he had met during his travels here. He soon lost contact with that person as soon World War 2 came to be. The war wanted to join forces with the Chinese and that meant eliminating the Chinese Exclusion Act. That law was the problem for Wong, he couldn’t walk in the streets without being interegated and and checked for cards top prove that he  was approved at Angel Island.

His life in the city after the war and all the discriminations that occurred in that time he settle down with a Chinese women who also arrived from Angel Island. Her name was Helen Hom. They soon became in love and then they had kids. When Wong had kids he knew that he has to have a job to keep food in the table. So he enjoyed his life as an Chinese American
